Channel4000.com is a demonstration site used by the Nexstar Digital Publisher Solutions Group.
This site began serving news in 1998 when it was affiliated with one of the television stations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul market. In its very early days (before anyone spoke of broadband Internet connections), viewers could receive a free 3.5″ floppy disk (remember those???) that contained various graphics and HTML files that they could load into their browser (remember Netscape???). The browser would then reach out over a dial-up connection to retrieve the text and a few small images. This sped up load times as many of the standard files were on the disk.
While the site is no longer associated with any specific television station, those of us here at the Publisher Solutions Group continue to use it to test new code and demonstrate the capabilities of our platform.
