(NEXSTAR) — In what it’s dubbing “its biggest launch of the year,” Pizza Hut on Tuesday introduced a new Detroit-style pizza.
“Born out of the growing popularity of this pizza style across the country and requests from customers, Pizza Hut spent over a year developing and perfecting its Detroit-Style pizza,” the company said in a press release
The rectangular-shaped pizza comes in four new recipes, including the Detroit Double Pepperoni, and features cheese all the way to the edges and a new vine-ripened tomato sauce that’s only available on the Detroit-style. Other varieties include Double Cheesy, Meaty Deluxe and Supremo.
“Countless hours were spent testing and perfecting every detail here to create our take on Detroit-Style pizza,” David Graves, Pizza Hut’s chief brand officer, said in a statement. “The caramelized cheese crust and the sauce on top take the taste of this pizza to the next level.”
The restaurant chain said it tried more than 500 iterations of the pizza, with several tested in the Midwest, where this style originated.
The new Detroit-style pizza is available nationwide for a limited time and has a starting price of $10.99, which varies by location. It’s available for contactless delivery, carryout and curbside pickup.
